Arsenal to run the rule over Fathi

Egypt international Ahmed Fathi will have a trial at Arsenal after Al Ahly confirmed that the right-back is due in London on Friday.

Fathi spent six months on loan at Hull City in the second half of the 2012-13 Championship season, but made just one start and six league appearances in total.

However, the 29-year-old has been given the chance to impress Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger ahead of the 2014-15 Premier League campaign.

Egyptian Premier League club Al Ahly confirmed on their official Facebook page that Fathi will leave for London on Friday and will miss his side s Egypt Cup semi-final on Monday.

Fathi also spent eight months with Sheffield United in 2007, playing just three Premier League games.

Gutierrez ´hurt´ at being told to leave by Pardew

After making his return to the Newcastle United first-team, Jonas Gutierrez revealed how he was told to move on by former manager Alan Pardew.

Gutierrez made his comeback on Wednesday against Manchester United, after recovering from testicular cancer.

The Argentinian was given a rousing reception by the St James Park faithful upon his return, but has explained how former boss Pardew was happy to see him move on during his period of rehabilitation.

He told me to look for a team a moment after the second operation at the end of 2013, he told Marca.

This hurt me a lot.

You have to be more human and not look only at the football side and business.

I only look to the future and each of us has to look at themselves and their conscience.

Minnesota United and Real Salt Lake collect tough away wins

Minnesota United lived up to their terrific away record with a 2-1 win against Nashville SC at Geodis Park on Sunday.

At home, Nashville were the betting favourites in the contest, but perhaps that should not have been the case as they entered the match with the worst home record in the Western Conference, collecting just 14 points from 12 matches.

On the other hand, Minnesota are the West s third-best team away from home, with 19 points in 13 matches, and while they have been strong recently – with only one loss from their past 10 games – Nashville have only one win from their past 10.

The road team took the life out of the crowd when Franco Fragapane put Minnesota ahead 1-0 in the 27th minute, getting on the end of a terrific ball from Emanuel Reynoso after…

Nunes, a Brazilian-born Portugal international, has signed a five-year deal at Molineux after arriving from Sporting CP.

It has been reported that Wolves are paying an initial £38million (€45m), with add-ons potentially taking the fee to £42.2m (€50m).

The 23-year-old has been linked with a Premier League move over the last year, and follows Nathan Collins and Goncalo Guedes as Wolves third signing of the transfer window.

Bruno Lage will have the midfielder, who scored in his final match for Sporting, at his disposal for Saturday s trip to Tottenham.

Capable of playing in any central role in midfield, Nunes is relishing the chance to play in the Premier Le…

Ramos hails Spain´s belief after Germany draw

Spain defender Sergio Ramos believes the 1-1 friendly draw with Germany on Friday demonstrated the team s considerable potential ahead of the World Cup.

La Roja arrived at the previous edition of the tournament in Brazil four years ago as holders, but crashed out in the group stage after losing 5-1 to Netherlands.

Head coach Vicente del Bosque could only guide them to the round of 16 at Euro 2016 and stepped down after the tournament, making way for Julen Lopetegui.

A convincing qualifying campaign has Spain back among the favourites ahead of this year s finals.

And Real Madrid defender Ramos, who earned his 150th senior international cap in Dusseldorf, feels his side made something of a statement with their performance against Joachim Low s men.

Benteke leaves Liverpool for Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Christian Benteke for a fee believed to be in the region of £30million.

The Belgium international had long been linked with a move to Selhurst Park and has now signed a four-year deal with Palace to end his time at Liverpool.

Benteke joined Liverpool from Aston Villa ahead of the 2015-16 campaign, but failed to live up to the high expectations at Anfield.

He netted 10 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions last term, including the stoppage-time winner over Palace back in March.

The 25-year-old initially stated that he was ready to fight for his place at Liverpool, but opted to move on after he was deemed surplus to requirements by Jurgen Klopp.

I m very happy to commit my future to Crystal Palac…

Scotland 3-3 Norway: What Were The Main Talking Points As The Tartan Army Sign Off Their EURO 24 Qualifying Adventure With A Thriller At Hampden?

While Scotland might have been looking to sign off their EURO 24 qualifying adventure with a statement on Sunday night, the Tartan Army eventually had to settle for a thrilling 3-3 stalemate against Norway.

The Scots came from behind twice in the first-half as goals conceded goals by Aron Donnum and Jorgen Larsen cancelled out John McGinn s spot-kick and Leo Ostigard s own goal.

Putting in an eye-catching display after returning from the half-time break, Southampton midfielder Stuart Armstrong looked like he had wrapped up another Group A victory for Steve Clarke’s side just before the hour mark.

However, although Scotland might have been moments away from laying down another Group A marker, Clarke’s side suffered late frustration in Glasgow as former Celtic…

Landon Donovan hints at international retirement

LA Galaxy forward Landon Donovan has admitted that he could quit United States national team in the near future.

The 30-year-old helped his side make it to the Conference semi-finals by scoring from a penalty spot in the 2-1 win over Vancouver Whitecaps on Friday.

However, while remaining focus on his club career, the highly rated forward admits he is not sure how much longer he can continue playing for the national team.

If I m not enjoying playing anymore, the World Cup is the last thing on my mind, Donovan said in an interview with ESPN.

I need to make sure that I m enjoying playing every day. If I m not enjoying it, none of that stuff really matters.

And your body s going to tell you it s time to take a break, and that s what my body has d…
