Euro 2012 Group D: Sweden 2 England 3

Theo Walcott emerged from the bench to score one goal and set up another as England earned a 3-2 victory over Sweden at Euro 2012.

Roy Hodgson introduced Andy Carroll to the Three Lions starting XI and that decision seemed to have paid dividends when the Liverpool striker sent England into a first-half lead with a powerful header.

Sweden, however, improved dramatically after the break and after Glen Johnson failed in his attempt to keep Olof Mellberg s finish out, the Olympiakos defender headed home a second to put Erik Hamren s team in front.

But Walcott made all the difference when England seemed to be crumbling, levelling the score with a 25-yard volley before laying on Danny Welbeck s outstanding winning goal.

Sweden s loss means they are eliminated …

Premier League review 02nd February 2013

Moussa Sissoko scored a brace as Newcastle defeated Chelsea 3-2 at St James Park

Yesterday’s Premier League games produced another goal fest. One of the games of the day came at St James Park, where Newcastle defeated Chelsea 3-2.

The home side gained the lead on 41 minutes. Davide Santon produced superb cross that has headed past Petr Cech by Jonas Gutierrez.

Ten minutes into the second half and the visitors were back on level terms. Full-back Ashley Cole found Frank Lampard, who fired home a stunning swerving effort from 25 yards. The Blues looked to have turned the game around on 61 minutes.

Much-maligned Fernando Torres found Juan Mata and the Spaniard curled home a sumptuous effort from inside the penalty area. That lead didn’t last long though …

Premier League record falls as 2023-24 becomes most goal-laden 20-team season

The current Premier League season has become the most goal-laden 20-team campaign in the competition s history, with Harry Maguire the unlikely man to seal 2023-24 s place in history.

Maguire scored Manchester United s first equaliser as they twice fought from behind to clinch a 4-2 win over Sheffield United on Wednesday, with Bruno Fernandes netting twice in the second half.

The centre-back s 42nd-minute header was a significant moment, representing the 1,085th goal scored in the Premier League this term.

That is the most ever scored in a season containing 20 teams, since 1995-96.

1085 Harry Maguire s goal was the 1085th scored in the Premier League season, the most in a 20-team campaign in the competition s history. Record.

The 2021-22 NFL season was my first foray back into the whacky world of survivor pools in more than a decade, and it came with plenty of hard – yet valuable – lessons, especially after our entry in the Circa Sportsbook Survivor Pool Contest went tits up in Week 1.

Here are some of those lessons that I will take into next season, should they actually let me do this weekly article again:

• Don’t get cute. Stick with the bigger favorites until you can’t.

• Don’t take the most popu…

Marcus Rashford claims he considered leaving Manchester United last summer

Marcus Rashford has admitted he considered leaving Manchester United “a little bit” last summer but Erik ten Hag’s arrival as manager changed his stance.

The season before the Dutchman replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjær as the permanent manager was a difficult one for the England forward. He managed only five goals and did not score after January, with his confidence particularly low. In the close season there were reports that Paris Saint-Germain were interested in buying him from his boyhood club. Rashford was asked if he had considered leaving.

Santa Clara And Houston Will Host The 2016 And 2017 Super Bowls

At the NFL spring meetings in Boston this afternoon, owners voted to award Super Bowls L and LI—in 2016 and 2017—to the Bay Area and Houston. That leaves Miami as the only finalist to go home empty-handed. Should've paid for those stadium renovations, South Florida! What's the opposite of surprise? The 49ers and Texans have long been the favorites to host the big games. They probably started printing up the merchandise as soon as the ink dried on the Levi's Stadium lease, and the Texans got final approval to spruce up Reliant Stadium with the two largest video boards in the NFL. The Dolphins, with the backing of Roger Goodell, basically threatened Miami that they wouldn't get a Super Bowl unless the county paid to renovate Sun Life Stadium. That was shot down i…
